Enjoying the European Football Championships and getting some good climing done: the best of both worlds . Basler Jura was wet, wet, wet! I tried some boulder problems, but just ended up trashing myself on slippery holds. I'm sure the bouldering is great when the conditions are right. I'd never been to the Vosges area in the North-East of France before, but now I can highly recommend it. It has some great red sandstone quarries with beautiful routes. Click on read more to see some of the pictures I took.
Make sure to pick up the Basler Jura topograph "Fluebibel" (Andrey, Luisier & Tscharner), one of the coolest guides I've seen. They've put some real effort into making it, worth having on the shelf. For the Vosges area, get the French guide "Sur les Falaises de grès" (Bilger, Baudrey & Corby). The actual routes sketches are not that great, but better than nothing.
